Thiruvegappura is a Valluvanad village on the bank of river Thutha, a tributary to the Bharathapuzha River, serving as the gateway to Palakkad District, for inboard traffic from the northern Malabar districts of Kerala. Located in the Palakkad district of Kerala, India, Thiruvegappura is famous for a Lord Siva Temple, built around the 14th century, with three flag masts as the unique speciality. Lord Sankaranarayana and Lord Vishnu are the other main deities of the temple. An exquisite Koothambalam (Temple theatre), exemplifying the beauty of the Kerala architecture was added probably around the 15th century. This place claims of great heritage in the annals of Kerala history. World renowned Guru Natyācharya Vidūshakaratnam Padma Shri Mani Madhava Chakyar used to perform Chakyar Koothu and Koodiyattam here for decades.
